When you purchase a car basically HPI checks are ‘peace of mind’. This will examine car history you want to buy to make sure that it has not been clocked, ringed, cloned, written off or has no outstanding finance against it.

If I do not get HPI check so what are the risks?

The car could have been stolen or written off.

The HPI check website states that on average 4 in 100 cars that the checked had written off by insurance.

In the UK, some 375,000 vehicles are stolen every year. HPI check recognizes about 30 taken vehicles everyday. To unsuspecting buyers many are sold as ‘bargains’. When original car has been copied to the identity of stolen car is cloning (or ringing). So that means there will be 2 or more vehicle on the road with the similarity identity. You could end up buying a purloined car, and when the police finally found them would take the cars in order to find the criminal and return it to its true owners.

A HPI check will check on all this and will secure that you don’t loose money or end up driving your family and you around in an unsafe vehicles.

What do I need to perform a HPI check?

You’ll need the vehicle registration as well as VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or number of chassis. The full HPI check prices about £40, so you’ll need a method of payment.
